Surprisingly, it's not 'software stability.'
When you start up your PS4 today, you'll be able to download the 1.62
firmware update. Coming in at 336 MB, this small update doesn't seem to
change much of the PS4's user interface; rather, it focuses on
under-the-hood improvements.
1.62 doesn't include the typical "software stability" patch as we've seen in previous updates, but instead the "operation quality during use of some PlayStation 4 format software has been improved." Sony explains that this update simply improves the "image quality for some applications."
While the PlayStation Vita didn't receive an update today, it did see the addition of several applications to
its library, including Crunchyroll and Quello, with Redbox and Hulu on
the way. Sony will also be hosting a presentation tonight at GDC on
PlayStation's future, so stay tuned to Consoleinfo.be live blog for more news from Sony.
