Ubisoft Bringing Tetris to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

All falling into place.

Ubisoft has announced a new partnership with The Tetris Company that will see it bring the classic game to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

2014 marks the seminal puzzler's 30th anniversary. Originally devised by Soviet programmer Alexey Pajitnov, Tetris has now sold in excess of 170 million copies and is frequently championed as one of the greatest games ever made.

Henk B. Rogers, the managing director of The Tetris Company, spoke optimistically about the new partnership, “We welcome Ubisoft to the Tetris family. I am 100% sure they will develop one of the best versions of the Tetris game ever."

Meanwhile, Ubisoft co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot, shared his enthusiasm: “We’re very excited to start working with this world-renowned brand, and can’t wait to combine Ubisoft’s expertise and all the capacities of next-gen consoles to create an exciting new Tetris experience for fans."

The Tetris license has passed through many hands over the years. Recently, EA published a version of the game for mobile devices and PlayStation 3

No further details about the game and how it will take advantage of the new hardware were revealed at this time.
