Sony: PS4 Already Has 24 Announced Exclusives

In an all-new ad, Sony takes aim at its competition, stating that 24 PS4 exclusives have already been announced from 14 different studios.

Today, Sony released a new PlayStation 4 commercial, seen below, that makes some interesting claims about PlayStation 4’s library of games. With murmurings suggesting that PS4’s launch/first year lineup is a bit soft – especially in the wake of DriveClub’s delay -- this commercial seems to nip some of the criticism in the bud.

For starters, the ad states that 24 PlayStation 4-exclusive games have been announced so far. The biggest of the bunch are undoubtedly Killzone: Shadow Fall, Infamous: Second Son, and The Order: 1886.

Sony's ad also notes that 14 “award winning studios” are making PlayStation 4 games. This is no doubt a reference to its robust first party developer roster, which includes the likes of Sucker Punch (Infamous), Media Molecule (LittleBigPlanet), Guerrilla Games (Killzone), Sony Santa Monica (God of War) and more.

Finally, the commercial notes that over 180 games are currently in development for PlayStation 4, “more than any other next-gen console.”

We last heard from Sony about its exclusives back in June. It was then that the company stated that its first party studios had 30 games in development, 20 of them due out within a year of PlayStation 4’s launch, and 12 of them hailing from new franchises. That was a follow-up to Sony's claim in February of 2013 that each of its studios were already working on PlayStation 4.

At Gamescom, Sony noted that 180 games were in development for PS4, and revealed 33 of them that would be available before the end of 2013.
