Simple is better
Sony Santa Monica has announced that it has redesigned its logo in an attempt to “create a flexible identity for all our games.”
The studio intends to use its simple design as a frame through which players can “see the world of our games.” After the studio announced it would be moving on from God of War Ascension, the goal of their new brand identity seems to make new, original titles, and forge a fresh path.
“When you think about establishing a new brand identity” says Shannon
Studstill, Director of Sony Santa Monica, “it is about more than an
image, it is our promise to our fans that we will continue our tradition
of inventive and exceptional games... Our games are the studio’s brand,
and now our logo exemplifies who we are.”
Sony Santa Monica suffered a round of layoffs earlier this year, in what they called “a cycle of resource re-alignment.”
