Driveclub Delayed in Japan

Will this have a knock-on effect in the west?

Driveclub has been delayed in Japan and will now miss the PS4 launch on February 22, Sony has announced.

The news comes courtesy of Inside Games (via Kotaku), which blames the revised release schedule on "various circumstances."

It's important to note that this doesn't mean the racer has suffered further setbacks in the West, as it could be Japan catching up with the initial delay. Localisation is bound to take some time, so this may just be part of a revised schedule.

We reached out to Sony to see if there's any news of a release date or further delays and received the following statement: "The team at Evolution Studios are working hard to bring Driveclub, a truly next gen driving experience to PS4 and we will announce the release date shortly. We're really excited about how Driveclub is progressing and thank you for your patience."

Originally planned to be a launch title alongside the PS4 in North America and Europe, Driveclub was delayed to early 2014. When asked about why this had happened, Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida explained it was to do with complications surrounding implementation of the game's ambitious social features.
