CES: Wikipad Launching Gamevice Tablet Controller

Development underway for Android and Windows 8 devices.

The Android-based Wikipad got off to a bit of a rocky start. But the developers behind the tablet/game controller have something new up their sleeves for next week's CES show in Las Vegas. The Gamevice is a slim, portable game controller designed to work with a wider range of existing tablets. Wikipad president Fraser Townley says development is currently focused on Android and Windows 8 devices.

"We have not forgotten other important OS systems and we hope to announce additional support for those in the near future," said Townley. For all indications, it would appear Gamevice could eventually make its way to the burgeoning lineup of Apple-certified iOS game controllers. The company gave no indication of price or a release date.

The Gamevice controller design features a collapsable build for portability, dual analog sticks, four shoulder buttons, a d-pad, and four analog face buttons. An over-the-air update was also released for Wikipad today, adding button mapping, Android 4.2, and a selection of pre-loaded mobile games including Dead Trigger 2.
